On behalf of the Gloucester Seniors I would like to take this opportunity to officially invite you and your team to the 36th annual Can-Am Friendship Soccer Tournament. It will be held from May 25th to May 27th 2012 in Ottawa, Ontario. We are looking forward to another great event celebrating the 36th year of this incredible tournament. We are also thrilled to host it for the first time. Gloucester is one of several cities that comprise the City of Ottawa, Canada’s capital.
From your emails, I have the feeling everyone is looking forward to another fun time on and off the field. We will continue with the six team format used last year. The tournament teams are:
1. Gloucester Seniors
2. Cataraqui Soccer Club
3. London Sausage Kings
4. Lehigh Valley Old Timer Soccer Club
5. Lehigh Valley Saengerbund
6. Evergreen
The games will be held at what is affectionately known as the “Hornet’s Nest”. It is a complex of 12 fields, an indoor dome housing a full size field and a clubhouse with shower and change facilities. We will use 3 of the fields so all games can be played at the same time. This will allow additional “recovery and refreshment” opportunities between games for everyone.
The Welcome reception will be held at our clubhouse on Friday evening. The Saturday banquet will be at the RCMP mess across the street from your hotel.
We have reserved 60 rooms at the Hampton Inn. It is very important that you contact the hotel to reserve your rooms before the release date of April 25th 2012. The annual Ottawa Race Weekend is being held the same week-end as our tournament. There will be approximately 50,000 participants running races ranging from 2 Km to the full marathon. To say accommodations are limited would be an understatement.
